Ron brings three core skills to City Council:
Community Leadership, Collaboration and Inclusion.

Elect Ron Ellsworth
For Deputy Mayor

I’m officially running for Deputy Mayor of St. John’s!

With years of council experience, high attendance, and a record of delivering results, I’m eager to continue serving our great city.

  • Council Lead on Housing, Finance & Corporate Services

  • Vice Chair of the St. John’s Transportation Commission

  • Regional Fire Services Committee

  • St. John’s Sports & Entertainment board member

  • Member of the Audit & Eastern Regional Service Boards

Although, my work doesn’t stop at City Hall, I’m proud to be hands-on in our community:

  • Habitat for Humanity Build Team

  • Virginia Park & Shea Heights Community Centres

  • VOCM Cares Foundation

  • McSheffery Resources Finance Committee

  • Community Centre Alliance

As your Deputy Mayor, I’ll bring experienced, community-first leadership focused on housing, affordability, and public service.

Let’s keep building St. John’s — together.

Three Reasons

  • Community Leadership

As a life-long volunteer, I understand the benefits that come from helping each other. Our city needs our community leaders to step up.

  • Collaboration

Many hands make light work. Working together and sharing ideas, in my opinion, leads to the best possible outcomes.

  • Inclusion

Providing quality services to, and capitalizing on the potential of, each of our residents.

Our City and You

We have a growing city that is both thriving and facing challenges at the same time. As your Deputy Mayor, I will work to make sure we minimize the growing pains while taking advantage of the amazing opportunities within our reach.

I am very excited to hear from so many of you over the coming months about what we can do to make our city a better place!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • WHAT WOULD RON BRING TO THE TABLE AS A MEMBER OF CITY COUNCIL?

In a word - experience. Ron has years of experience serving the residents of St. John’s in his previous time as a member of City Council. Now more than ever, we need our city to be led by people who already have a deep understanding of the key issues we face. Beyond his experience, Ron has three core skills that are critical of anybody holding public office: community leadership; collaboration; inclusion.

  • WHAT ARE THE ISSUES RON IS MOST CONCERNED ABOUT?

Every member of council should lobby for improved snow clearing (including sidewalk maintenance in the winter), more efficient roadwork, and an overall improvement in the basic services the city provides. Beyond that, the most valuable members of council will be aware of the impact that each policy decision can have on all of our residents, while seeking out those goals through a lens of fiscal responsibility, with a commitment to avoid tax increases as much as possible.

  • WHO CAN VOTE?

Residents of St. John’s who are Canadian citizens, 18 or older and who have ordinary residence at least 30 days before the election on Thursday, October 2, 2025 are eligible to vote.
